Description:

Yellow flowers face downwards, and originate from the leaf-whorls
which are evenly spaced up the stalk.
Look closely at the petal to see finely toothed edge.

Woodland, especially moist areas and swamps.

Description:
Flowers are tiny, yellow and arranged along
a delicate stem.
Leaves are large, and with coarsely-toothed margins.
Hairy stem is sticky from resin secreted from glands.
Fruit is an achene which is bristly and sticks to passing animals.
There a a number of closely related species here and
identification of each is tricky.
Perennial.
Habitat:
Woodland, especially edge.

Description:
Erect plant with small, narrow leaves.
Flowers yellow, 5 thin petals widely spaced in a star-like arrangement.
Look closely for the black dots on edges of petals.
Introduced from Europe. Native species are less common.
Habitat:
Open, sunny habitats, especially woodland edges, abandoned fields.

Description:
Bushy plant, much branched.
Yellow flower has five, rounded petals.
Distinctive leaves not always composed of 5 leaflets (from the name
"cinq")
but can be up to 7 leaflets. Leaves resemble those of strawberry.
Stems and flower stalks hairy.
Habitat:
Open, sunny areas such as abandoned fields, roadsides.

Description:
Bushy plant, much branched, with hairy stems.
Pale yellow flower has five, rounded petals.
Distinctive leaves composed of 5-7 leaflets.
