Green Bottle Fly
(Phaenicia spp.)

Description: Abdomen metallic green. Wings are transparent with brown veins. Larvae live on carrion.

Habitat: Fields, gardens.

Length: 8 mm

Adults: June - October



Drone fly
(Eristalis tenax)

Description: Resembles Honey Bee, but lacks the "waist" between thorax and abdomen. Adults feed on nectar and pollen, and prefer daisy flowers.

Habitat: Fields, meadows.

Length: 16 mm

Adults: June - October
