History

Hopscotch Interactive Inc. was founded in 1997 by three biologists with a bent for science communication and a passion for taking the natural world to the masses. We chose the company name to reflect our commitment to creating educational resources which are fun, but which at the same time exploit the powerful interactivity of the Internet.

Services

The services that we provide to our clients are mostly only limited by the imagination of the client and the creativity of our team. We listen to our clients needs and design software and print solutions for them. This means that each project involves custom, and often unique, products. To date, we have provided services in the following areas.

Content research and writing: We normally work with a client to adapt their existing content to the Web or for digital print form. However, we have been called upon to research and write educational content. Our training as scientists and experience as university lecturers enables us to offer these services.

Programming: Each project typically involves a range of programming. Most of our projects involve creating databases for the content, using CGI programs to dynamically create Web pages or PostScript files, and Java applications to create interactive tools.

Web site design: Our projects involve designing sites which function well, are easy to navigate around and are sensitive to the varied needs of users and the limitations of their technology.

Digital print technology: While our strength is in Internet programming, we do not eschew the traditional print medium -- on the contrary we believe that integrating the Web and digital print technology will help to revolutionize print communication for our clients. Our Guides-on-Demand system allows for the automated creation of PostScript documents for digital printing.
